What makes a page citation-ready?

The page is accessible, relevant, specific, supportable, useful for a decision, and structured so its meaning is easy to identify.

The short answer

The Really Good GEO citation-readiness framework evaluates a page across six properties: directness, entity clarity, evidence, question coverage, tradeoff honesty, and extractable structure. Together they diagnose whether a page is a credible citation candidate; individually they do not guarantee that any specific AI system will cite it.

1. DirectnessThe useful answer appears before background, slogans, or a long promotional setup.
2. Entity clarityThe company, offer, category, audience, geography, and relationships are named precisely.
3. Evidence qualityClaims include specifications, methods, sources, credentials, examples, dates, or first-hand results.
4. Question coverageThe page answers the follow-up questions required to understand fit, process, price, risk, and alternatives.
5. Tradeoff honestyThe page explains when the offer is not the right fit and what a reader should choose instead.
6. Extractable structureHeadings, short passages, lists, tables, and labels make the page easy to navigate and quote accurately.
Citation readiness is a diagnostic state, not a guarantee that any particular system will cite the page.
